Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire a doula?

Did you know that the U.S. maternal mortality rate currently ranks 55th in the world? With the continuous emotional and physical support that doulas provide during labor, mamas and babies have a better chance at positive birth outcomes. These benefits are why every mama deserves a doula:

Can my partner still be present and participate in the birth and postpartum process?

Yes! I highly encourage mamas to get all of the support they want and need. Childbirth is very intimate and your partner can show up for you and connect with you in a way that is unique to you both. Partners can benefit from doula care as well and further learn how to care for you, and themselves, as I help you both make the transition into life with a new baby

Does it matter where I choose to have my baby?

Where you choose to give birth is completely your choice and between you and your prenatal care provider. I am willing to be by your side whether you choose to give birth at home, at a birth center, or at a hospital. Birth where you feel comfortable.

What if I have an elective cesarean or emergency cesarean?

My number one priority is supporting you as you give birth safely and how you choose, as long as your prenatal care provider deems it safe. Sometimes, this may mean opting for a cesarean delivery or having an unexpected cesarean delivery. Either way, I can still be there to help you through labor, help you stay calm and relaxed, educate you on cesarean births, and give you the extra physical support you will need after surgery. A cesarean birth is still birth that can benefit from a doula and help you transition into your "Mama Aura".

What is NOT included in Doula support?

As a doula, I am not a medical professional neither do I perform clinical tasks. Additionally, I will NOT:

Do you take insurance?

No. I currently do not accept any insurance plans. However, some insurance companies may be willing to reimburse your expenses paid for doula care. Check with your insurance provider or submit a claim.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I understand that welcoming a new baby comes with additional costs. I am willing to work out a payment plan for women and familes that are experiencing financial hardship. I DO require a 25% deposit for retainment and all invoices must be paid before 37 weeks.
